These terms form an agreement between you and The Most Important Thing (“we”, “us”), the provider of this website and service. By using the site or buying the throne you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
The service displays a single public statement — “the most important thing in the world” — together with the name of the person who last paid for it. Buying a takeover replaces the current statement with yours until someone else pays more. The statement is public and permanent in the site's history. You must be of legal age in your country, or have authority to bind the organisation you represent.
2. Acceptable use
You must not use the service unlawfully or to publish content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, defamatory, sexually explicit, that impersonates another person, that infringes anyone's intellectual property, or that is spam or fraudulent. You must not interfere with the security of the service (malware, probing, scraping, circumventing limits). You are responsible for the text you submit and confirm you have the right to publish it.
3. Moderation
We may remove, edit or refuse any submitted statement, and suspend or terminate access, in cases of material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. Rights holders can request removal of infringing content by contacting support@themostimportantthing.app. Removal of a statement for a policy breach does not entitle you to keep the throne.
4. Intellectual property
We retain ownership of the service, its software, design and branding. You keep ownership of the text you submit and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display and share it (including in social previews and site history) as part of operating the service.
5. Payments and Merchant of Record
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. The price of a takeover rises with each purchase and is calculated on our servers at the moment of checkout.
6. Service level and warranties
The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not allow it.
7. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the seller's jurisdiction, and disputes are subject to its courts. Questions: support@themostimportantthing.app.
